Season 2 of Marvel’s Luke Cage is coming to Netflix soon, and Buzzfeed just revealed Lucy Liu is directing the season premiere.
“What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters,” Liu said in a statement to Buzzfeed. “It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team.”

Liu’s no stranger to directing. As Buzzfeed notes, she’s directed episodes of CBS’ Elementary, as well as 2011’s Meena, a short film detailing sex trafficking in India.
Luke Cage executive producer Jeph Loeb is excited for what Liu’s brought to the table.
“When you’re dealing with a bulletproof man, it helps if you have a bulletproof director,” Loeb said. “Lucy brings a keen eye, a superb sense of story, and an obvious love of actors. She is rocking Luke Cage 2.”
Season 2 of Luke Cage is slated to drop in 2018.
