It’s Friday afternoon, which means a fresh cut from Jay-Z just dropped on TIDAL. This time around, it’s the visuals for his 4:44 bonus track “Adnis,” and he brought some star power to the game.
“Adnis” stars Moonlight star and Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as a Raging Bull-esque boxer throwing punches at his own shadow and, at one point, staring into the mirror with sweat dripping down his face. The black-and-white, slow motion clip is short and decidedly less provocative than the previous videos from the album — though, given that we’re talking about Hov here, we’re sure the simple narrative is some kind of metaphor for hood life or inner demons or something.
