At just 18 years old, Wuz Smith is barely legal, but age hasn’t stopped him from staying focused on his dreams and his paper.
Following in the footsteps of his hand-sewing grandmother and custom kicks-designing dad, Wuz is nurturing his natural gift for design and already has a few of your favorite cool kids, like Rae Sremmurd and Famous Dex, rocking his creations. He didn’t grow up in a place where fashion is essential to the culture — Wuz hails from Kansas City, a working class town where success at the level he’s now enjoying can feel near impossible. Still, he’s managed to influence street style in a way most grown folk never will.
“A lot of people who’ve never even seen me, or personally met me, don’t know how old I am,” he tells CASSIUS. “They think I’m some 43-year-old guy working in some headquarters. In reality, I’m an 18-year-old kid from Kansas City, Missouri who started in my grandmother’s attic.”
Recognized by Ink Magazine, the Kansas City Star and local television networks, the teen fashion prodigy drops his newest collection, Issue 3, any day now. The world better get ready.
