Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot met J. Cole in 2015 and their music won him over immediately. Now almost two years later, the Atlanta duo known as EarthGang is officially joining Cole’s growing family of artists at Dreamville.

Ever since they crossed paths, Cole has sung high praises for EarthGang. After seeing them perform live, he said the group’s organic vibe was easier for some fans to relate to than Atlanta’s traditional trap Gods, like Future.

“When n*ggas think about Atlanta, they think about super trap shit,” Cole said. “They think about, ya know, Future…Future is the God right now in that world and that lane… But it’s like, them kids you seen at that show tonight…they actually relate more to ya’ll.”

EarthGang’s upcoming Rags EP dropped Thursday (August 31). The project should get a significant boost in buzz with Cole’s weight now behind it. And by joining Dreamville’s esteemed roster of artists – including Bas, Cozz, Ari, Omen, J.I.D. & Lute – EarthGang’s razor sharp bars should only get deadlier in the near future.

Check out an early interaction between Cole and EarthGang in the Rags EP below, and stream the project on Apple Music now.
