After months of speculation, the LeBron James-led Space Jam 2 movie is officially a go and Black Panther’s director Ryan Coogler will help bring the movie to the big screen as a producer.

Initially, it was already reported HBO’s Royal Acts of Flyness creator Terence Nance would take on directorial duties on the upcoming film. James production company Spring Hill Entertainment, broke the news in a tweet sharing a photo of lockers belonging to his animated co-star Bugs Bunny, himself, Nance, and Coogler.

The Warner Bros. movie is set to begin production following the 2019 season according to The Hollywood Reporter. Speaking with the publication about the film James added “The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie, It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”

As who will LeBron and the Tune Squad will face off against that is still a mystery but some folks on Twitter already have a good idea who could fill that role.

This latest news can be added to the list of announcements involving Hollywood Bron since his move to La La land. James is leaving his mark on the entertainment industry swiftly, his HBO show The Shop is already being well received, his Showtime docuseries Shut Up and Dribble that will be narrated by free agent Jemele Hill set to air in November.

He also has another docuseries currently on Starz called Liberty City where he serves as executive producer alongside friend and business partner Maverick Carter which follows the Liberty City Warriors, a youth football program founded by Luther Campbell aka Uncle Luke.

Now that it’s official we look forward to more info about the upcoming sequel to cult classic film such as other NBA players starring in the movie and of course whether or not will the aliens led by Mr.Swackhammer (Danny Devito) from Moron Mountain will return. Also, could we be getting a unique pair of Bron sneakers as well just like Michael Jordan’s signature Space Jam 11’s?

We can only wonder, but this news is indeed exciting. Let us know how you feel about LeBron taking over MJ as leader of Tune Squad.
