Bey wasn’t lying about the money on that elevator, y’all. According to Forbes, Beyoncé and Jay Z are officially a billion dollar couple. You read that correctly — billion. With a “b.”
According to the magazine’s list of “America’s Wealthiest Self-Made Women,” the glowing mom-of-twins-to-be has a fortune of $350 million. As for her husband, who is currently listed on hip-hop’s wealthiest artists, there’s about $810 million to his name. While the majority of Jay’s wealth comes from his stakes in his companies Roc Nation, Rocawear, and Armand de Brignac, what put them both over the billion mark is their joint stake in Tidal.
The music streaming service received a $200 million investment from Sprint at the top of the year, rounding its worth up to a whopping $600 million. This amount is 10 times more than Hov paid for the company when he started it two years before. He also signed a 10-year $200 million deal with Live Nation just this past week.
How did they pull it off? As Bey said to Forbes years ago, “I’m never satisfied. I’ve never met anyone that works harder than me in my industry.” Hov may be the block, she’s the light that keeps the streets on and the coins don’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.
