There’s finally someone in custody for rapper XXXTentacion’s death. 

Broward County Sheriff’s Department took Dedrick D. Williams into custody on Wednesday and booked him for first-degree murder.

According to TMZ, the rapper’s mother told family and friends she’d just gotten notice from police they made an arrest. A person in attendance at the gathering mentioned that there was a chase on highway I-95 which may have been the cops pursuing and ultimately arresting Williams. Williams also has a probation violation and a previous grand theft charge and is being held without bail.

Born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, the 20-year-old rapper was gunned down Monday afternoon in his car outside a motorcycle dealer. There were several witnesses and cellphone video footage of the murder has since gone viral on the internet.

X, whose death has further highlighted his complicated legacy, dropped his 17 album in 2017 and became more popular when he dropped ? earlier this year. In a profile from the Miami New Times, his ex-girlfriend details the abuse she suffered while they lived together which led to him being criminally charged with domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and aggravated battery of a pregnant woman. He was gunned down before he could be taken to trial on these counts.

“XXXTentacion touched the lives of millions around the globe and will forever reside in the hearts of countless fans who listened to his music, attended his concerts, and felt the glow of his uncontainable, undeniable, and unique spirit,” read the statement written by manager Solomon Sobande, EMPIRE, lawyer Bob Celestin and AKW PR.

Many people in entertainment such as Big Sean, J. Cole, and more have expressed their condolences for the artist’s death.
