People take their driving very seriously and Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Dante Fowler clearly isn’t the one to mess with.

According to TMZ, Fowler was arrested for an altercation with a man named Alvin Trotman in a parking lot following an argument in July. The man reportedly criticized Fowler’s driving, which made the football player snap. Fowler allegedly hit the man, knocked off his glasses and stepped on them. Also, Fowler reportedly grabbed the man’s bag of liquor he just purchased and threw it in a nearby lake.

The 23-year-old is now charged with three misdemeanors, including first degree misdemeanor battery, criminal mischief and petty theft. If he’s convicted of all counts, he could face a year in prison — all for some out of control road rage.

Fowler apologized for the incident telling Jaguar fans, “I’m a better person than that.” We’ll keep you updated on any major developments.

According to Jacksonville.com, Fowler’s court date is set for September 11, a day after the Jaguar’s season opener against the Houston Texans.
