Chadwick Boseman Gives ‘Best Hero’ Award to Waffle House Hero

It’s obvious Chadwick Boseman was a no-brainer for the “Best Hero” award at the MTV Movie and TV Awards for his role in Black Panther. But instead of basking in the glory, the star decided to give a true hero some shine on Monday night.

“Receiving an award for playing a superhero is amazing but it’s even greater to acknowledge the heroes we have in real life,” Boseman said during his acceptance speech.

The actor proceeded to invite James Shaw Jr., the man who disarmed the Waffle House shooter, to the stage and presented him with the Golden Popcorn trophy. He told Shaw: “You saved lives. So this is going to live at your house.”

Rapper Jimmy Wopo Killed in Pittsburgh in Drive-By Shooting

Pittsburgh rapper Jimmy Wopo, born Travon Smart, was killed. While in Pittsburgh’s Middle Hill neighborhood, he was shot in a drive-by late Tuesday afternoon. And even after being transported to nearby UPMC Presbyterian Hospital he succumbed to his injuries at 5:56 pm. Wopo first caught on in mainstream rap with his infectious and bass-heavy hit Elm Street in 2016. He’d gain even more traction with his Jordan Kobe project the following year. Despite a nagging drug case from 2015, Wopo was determined to not let his past dictate his future.

“I lost my brother today and it’s the worst feeling in the world. He was destined for greatness and he wanted the best for his friends, family and community,” Wopo’s manager Taylor Maglin told WTAE. Alongside XXXTentacion, Wopo is the second rapper to be killed in just one day.

In light of the inhumane treatment of immigrant children by the Trump Administration, a group of Young Adult authors has come together to make a statement. With their campaign “Kid Lit Says No Kids in Cages,” 20 authors, including writers such as Ransom Riggs, Rainbow Rowell, Adam Silvera, and Nicola Yoon, are taking a stand against the actions by raising donations and collecting signatures against this treatment.

The organizations they’re raising money for include The Florence Project, ACLU, RAICES, Women’s Refugee Commission, Kids In Need of Defense (KIND), and Al Otro Lado.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders Confirms Trump is Only Considering Immigration Legislation About the Wall

As immigrant children continue to suffer in the custody of ICE, the Trump Administration continues to pass the blame.

President Donald Trump blames the Democrats for being “weak and ineffective with Boarder [sic] Security and Crime.” His administration says that any immigration laws moving forward must have full funding for the wall, end Catch and Release, Visa Lottery and Chain, and go to Merit-Based Immigration.
