Drake & Murda Beats Made ‘Nice For What’ While Playing NBA 2K

Drake’s Scorpion album is due out next month, but fans have been making due with freebies “God’s Plan,” and “Diplomatic Immunity” and chart-topping single “Nice For What.” The single, which features an infectious Lauryn Hill sample was produce frequent OVO collaborator Murda Beatz. Beatz, born Shane Lindstrom recently sat down with Elliot Wilson and Brian “B. Dot” Miller on TIDAL’s Rap Radar Podcast to reveal that he cooked up the beat while playing video games at Drizzy’s house.

“I feel like music needed a record like [“Nice For What”]. We were chilling at Drake’s house playing [NBA 2K] and we came up with the idea to sample a female artist,” So I asked my manager, ‘Yo, what do you think?’ He’s like, ‘Ex-Factor.'” And Drake’s like, ‘Oh, what part?’ And we picked the part, chopped it up, I made the beat while he was playing 2K,” Murda retells.

Mac Miller’s Blood Alcohol Level Was Nearly Twice The Legal Limit After DUI

News broke that Mac Miller was arrested last week for DUI and a hit-and-run, and now it’s been revealed that his blood-alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit. According to TMZ’s sources, Miller’s BAC was a .15, which California’s legal limit being .08. The Pittsburgh native hit a power pole then he and two friends fled on foot. But after cops ran his plates that went to his house where he confessed before they eventually arrested him. After spending the night in jail, he was released on $15,000 bail.

T.I. To Boycott Atlanta Restaurant

The fight doesn’t stop for T.I. Just days after being wrongly arrested outside of the gated community he lives in, he’s prepared to boycott a restaurant in Atlanta called Houston’s. It all started on May 13 when three women used the restaurant’s bathroom and after spending 10 minutes in there, the off-duty cop who was working security that night allegedly dragged the women towards the back door. One of the women, Asia’h Sharrell Epperson, filmed the incident while the officer claims the woman assaulted him. They are now being charged with criminal trespass. T.I. has since shared footage and photos of the incident on his Instagram page.

Parkland Students Land Book Deal

Listen to the kids, bro. Random House’s Young Leaders imprint announced plans to publish an anthology of essays, articles, and photographs by and about the students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, where the nationwide spark began for the student-led movement against gun control.

The book, called We Say #NeverAgain: Reporting from the School That Inspired the Nation, will be divided into three sections: Activism, MSD Strong, and What Comes Next. It will be released on October 2, 2018.
