Janelle Monáe’s Dirty Computer comes out on April 27, and today she releases two new videos from her “Emotion Picture” to accompany the announcement.
The Alan Ferguson-directed “Make Me Feel” takes us through a neon-lit ode to the ’80s with a cameo appearance from Tessa Thompson (anyone else getting San Junipero vibes?). Meanwhile, “Django Jane,” “a powerful Black girl magic womanifesto” celebrating Black women, addresses the intersection of marginalized identities. It was directed by Andrew Donoho and Chuck Lightning. Both videos can be streamed on YouTube now.

Monáe told Zane Lowe of her new album on Thursday: “I’m going to be 100 percent honest. I’m scared. I’m actually terrified. I mean, yeah, it’s such an honest body of work and I don’t know how people are going to react to it, Zane. I really, I don’t know. Just the thought of it is kind of freaking me out a little bit, but I feel like it’s something that I need to do.”
Dirty Computer isn’t all Monáe’s rolling out this year. As previously shared, you can find her in Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams, a sci-fi anthology series based on Dick’s works. She’ll also be alongside Steve Carell as GI Julie in The Women of Marwen, which is currently in post-production.
