We stan a queer Black writer profiling a queer Black artist for a queer Black cover story. For Vanity Fair‘s April issue, Jacqueline Woodson goes one-on-one with Lena Waithe for what is perhaps one of her most intimate interviews yet.
“I am tired of white folks telling my stories,” Waithe says toward the end of the piece. “Can’t no one tell a Black story, particularly a queer story, the way I can, because I see the God in us. James Baldwin saw the God in us. Zora saw the God in us. When I’m looking for myself, I find myself in the pages of Baldwin.”

We’re Not Sure Men in Black Needed a Spinoff in 2018, But Tessa Thompson’s Involved, So We’re Pretty Excited.
You read this correctly. Sony has a Men in Black spinoff in the works, and Tessa Thompson is set to star alongside Chris Hemsworth. According to The Hollywood Reporter, F. Gary Gray (Fate of the Furious) will direct the movie, which was written by Iron Man screenwriters Matt Holloway and Art Marcum. The film is slated to be released on June 14, 2019. In the meantime, we’ll be looking out Thompson in Sorry to Bother You with Lakeith Stanfield.
