If it wasn’t for B’More, the Nike Air Force 1 might have fallen off just like the Air Force 2s and Blazers. In 1984, when sales dropped, it was the city’s avid love for the silhouette that led Nike to continue production of the sneaker.

The Nike Special Field Air Force 1 Mid “For Baltimore” is an homage to the brand’s storied history with the city, and it features custom embroidered straps, an ’84 hangtag, and insoles inspired by comics. Even the packaging is dope—the kicks are housed in a custom box tricked out by popular illustrator Ed Piskor, who also created a comic book featuring influential players who helped keep the legendary style in production.

Nike is also giving back to the city of Baltimore by teaming up with with popular retailer Downtown Locker Room and local community organization Jubilee Arts on a youth arts program launching in October. A plaque commemorating the partnership will appear at Downtown Locker Room and a mural designed by Piskor will be featured at the former site of the historic Cinderella Shoes store.

The Nike SF AF-1 Mid “For Baltimore”shoe will be available for purchase starting tomorrow, September 30 at the Mondawmin Mall and Monument Street locations of Downtown Locker Room in B’More. Check out the promo video below.
