Activision has been taking fans of its ridiculously popular first-person shooter franchise Call of Duty to future embracing technology and even taking gamers into outer space. Yesterday (May 30) the company alongside Infinity Ward announced for the next game in the ever-growing franchise will be returning to the game that pretty much put the franchise on the map, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Now before you go thinking we are just getting some remake of the game that first launched back in 2007 with some suped-up graphics we are happy to report that is not the case. This version of Modern Warfare is a reimagining of the classic game with a much more mature tone combined with the intense, realistic military action we have come to love and expect from the game as its reveal trailer depicts.
But that’s not the only thing the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is boasting. This game will blow the dam off online gaming cause it will feature cross-play, so yeah if you own XBOX One X, PS4 Pro or PC you will be playing against each other. As far as the impressive graphics that the reveal trailer put on full display, that is all made possible to use the latest advancements in visual engineering. Modern Warfare uses a physically-based material system that allows for state of the art photogrammetry, 4K HDR, new PBR decal rendering system, a new hybrid tile-based streaming system DirectX Raytracing (PC) plus a new GPU geometry pipeline. To further enhance the COD experience new audio tools that supports full Dolby ATMOS on supported platforms as well as the latest in sound simulation effects.
As you can imagine, Activision is excited about its new baby. David Stohl co-Studio Head, Infinity Ward had this say:
“This is an all-new Modern Warfare reimagined in every way, We are creating an emotionally charged experience that’s inspired by the headlines in the world today, where the rules are grey, and battle lines are blurred. Players will join a varied cast of international special forces and freedom fighters in gripping and heart-pounding missions through iconic European cities and volatile expanses of the Middle East. It’s intense, it’s exciting, and we can’t wait for our fans to play this October.”
Patrick Kelly, Creative Director, and co-Studio Head, Infinity Ward added:
“Every design decision has been made with our players in mind. With the launch of Modern Warfare, we’re taking steps to unite the community. First, we plan for Modern Warfare to be played together across PC and console through cross-play support. Second, we’re eliminating the traditional season pass, so that we can deliver more free maps and content as well as post-launch events to all players. This is just the beginning – there’s much more to come.”
