While Drake is still running the streets of Toronto and celebrating the Raptors victory over the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals, his dad, Dennis Graham, sat down to speak about his famous son. The 6 God’s pops sat down with Eric and Jeff Rosenthal of ItsTheReal podcast, where he touched on a bevy of topics related to Drizzy, including his acting career and short modeling career.

Drake was a model? Yup, that’s right. Before Wheelchair Jimmy blessed our television screens, Drizzy was practicing his blue steel look. When speaking with the podcast duo, Dennis revealed he knew his son was special and made the suggestion to his wife that they should look into getting young Aubrey into modeling.

“Drake was different. I told my wife that Drake had ‘that look’ and we should put him into doing modeling. We got his pictures done, got him an agent, and he started working,” he said.

But like any dad, he had a bigger vision for his son. He broke down how he started grooming Drake for the next step in his young career: acting.

“I went to Kohl’s, and I started buying acting scenes. We started reading… taught him how to laugh. Taught him out to cry. Taught him how to smile. How to be happy, how to be sad… He had it. I knew he had it,” he share. “My whole thing for Drake was trying to get him to the star-level, and Degrassi did that. I wanted him to be a star.”

His tutelage eventually landed Drake his gig as Jimmy on Degrassi at 9-years-old. The rest is all history now. Maybe LaVar Ball should listen to this episode of ItsTheReal, because he might pick up few gems from Dennis. You can check out the podcast below featuring the father of the 6 God below:
