It may not feel like it given the scorching temperatures, but Summer is basically over. And what better way to say goodbye to the warmest season of the year than with an epic BBQ?

On Sunday (Sept. 2), the boroughs and Caribbean islands were represented during DopeBBQ, which served as the precursor to NYC’s forthcoming annual West Indian Day Parade. The event—which took place at the Knockdown Center in Queens, NY—was thrown by co-founder Trice and the TGP collective. CASSIUS powered the event with good food, music, and games in effort to “make BBQs DOPE again.”

We are happy to report the mission was accomplished.

With the help of Stephcakes, LSquared, and DJ True Blends providing the soundtrack for the event, as well as rising media personality Mouse Jones directing the energy and the vibes, DopeBBQ sent the summer off on the right note.

It was the perfect setting to get off the last summer fit and bust a good wine while enjoying jerk and bbq chicken. Sorry, there was no swag surfing, though. Mouse doesn’t allow it at parties he hosts.

The DopeBBQ left us with good taste in our mouths and we are definitely looking forward to next summer’s event. To peep more photos from the day, hit the gallery below.
