Kalief Browder’s brother is reportedly running for NYC mayor. Akeem Browder confirmed the decision to HuffPost Monday, telling the publication, “I lost my mother, I lost my brother. I have nothing else to lose.” Browder reportedly hopes to be “a strong competitor” against Mayor Bill De Blasio, specifically regarding issues related to criminal justice, immigration, education and poverty. “It’s not a personal vendetta why I’m running for mayor but if we’re having someone represent the people, it better be someone who isn’t far removed from the people and better understands the people so they can better their lives,” Browder told HuffPost. “Do what’s right by the people or get out of office, get out of the way of people who want to try and make a change.”

The White House may be seeking a new role for press secretary Sean Spicer, reports CNN. “We have sought input from many people as we look to expand our communications operation,” White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders reportedly said in a statement. “As he did in the beginning, Sean Spicer is managing both the communications and press office.” As CNN notes, speculation of a change in Spicer’s role began to circulate as his presence at the podium began to lessen. Rumor has it Trump may be less-than-satisfied with Spicer’s performance, but considering the president’s pretty much contradicted most of Spicer’s statements from day one, who really knows the actual reason. After nearly ending in 2010 due to “dwindling membership,” The Franciscan Handmaids of the Most Pure Heart of Mary—which DNAinfo reports as “one of the oldest orders of Black nuns in the country”—has put The Motherhouse (located at 15 W. 124th St.) on sale. “The sale of the Motherhouse will allow us to relocate to a smaller facility that is more suited to our current congregation size and planned expansion initiatives,” Sister Gertrude Lilly Ihenacho, told DNAinfo. “As we look forward to our second 100 years, it is with enthusiasm that we gear up to expand our ministry in Harlem and our other ministries across the nation and around the world.” The move will reportedly happen in about a year, according to a representative.
