It seems that LiAngelo Ball just wants to play ball, and he’s determined to so by any means necessary.

His theft scandal in China essentially ended his career at UCLA, and his dad LaVar took him and his younger brother LaMelo to Lithuania. But now, he’s ready to forge his path into the NBA.

In a recent interview with Yahoo! Sports, the middle Ball brother revealed that learning how to play in a new system while in Lithuania made him ready to adapt to any situation that will put him—and most importantly, a team—in a position to win.

“I’m huge on being a true team player, I feel if you bond good with the people you play with, you will be successful. I made it a point to get to know my teammates in Lithuania and to try to win together. It helped me on the court. The whole year was different, but I adapted quickly because I had the mindset that people aren’t going to wait for you. It’s serious. They’re not going to wait all day for you to click with teammates; they’re going to somebody who can adapt quicker,” Ball told Yahoo! Sports.

While the situation in China will surely be remembered as a stain on his career, Ball is ready to put that in the past and use it as a learning experience to help propel him forward.

“I definitely learned from it. I also learned from the experience in China and I felt bad, but it’s over now. I view it as a closed chapter in my life. It’s about looking forward now to the NBA draft, and hopefully on an NBA team.”

Ready to showcase his skills, Ball took part in the Professional Basketball Combine in Florida last week. Teams were on hand to see his skills, and Ball’s dream of entering the league is still very much alive.
