So much television history was made by people of color at tonight’s 2017 Emmy Awards. Joining Donald Glover and Lena Waithe in shattering ceilings and knocking down doors is Riz Ahmed. The star of HBO’s The Night Of became the first Asian man to win an Emmy Award.

Ahmed took home Outstanding Lead Actor In a Limited Series for the HBO drama, in which he plays the son of a Pakistani cab driver from Queens who is wrongly convicted of murder. “If this show has shown a light on the prejudices in our societies … then maybe that’s something,” he said in his acceptance speech.

Ahmed also paid touching tribute to one of the show’s producers, an acting legend himself who passed away before its release:

Congratulations, Riz!
