Continuing his ongoing collab with Timex, menswear designer Todd Snyder’s latest collection of timepieces was inspired by a rare military watch designed in 1982 for U.S. Marines. It was the heritage brand’s most iconic style and its only official government contract.

The new MK1 steel is based on one of the most valuable and hard to come by watches in the brand’s archives.

The new MK1 SST fuses the spirit and utility of the original with contemporary updates. Meant to be disposable, the original utilized plastic casing; in contrast, the remake utilizes an architectural-grade steel case body and classic strap, making it both lightweight and durable. Three Hand and Chronograph faces are featured in multiple colorways.

“I was first drawn to Timex because of its incredible heritage of iconic timepieces, and I’ve become even more of a collector and appreciator over the years,” says Snyder. “The new MK1 steel is based on one of the most valuable and hard to come by watches in the brand’s archives.  I’m thrilled to have had the opportunity to introduce this piece of history for modern watch enthusiasts.”

Cop the collection now at ToddSnyder.com and the Todd Snyder flagship store on Madison Square in New York.
