Back in December, Kendrick Lamar released a music video for his latest single, “LOVE.” If you paid attention, you may have noticed a cleverly placed Easter egg in one scene. It pops up during what appears to be a video shoot, when the film marker makes mention of the highly anticipated upcoming film Black Panther, and that the soundtrack for the film is “coming soon.”

Lamar has officially announced that he will produce Black Panther: The Album, alongside his Top Dawg Entertainment label head Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. Director Ryan Coogler chose Lamar to orchestrate the film’s score, and the album will feature music from and inspired by the film. The first single, “All The Stars,” was released today (January 4), and it features fellow TDE member SZA. It’s produced by frequent TDE collaborator SounWave.

“I am honored to be working with such an incredible artist whose work has been so inspirational, and whose artistic themes align with those we explore in the film,” Coogler said in a press release. “I can’t wait for the world to hear what Kendrick and TDE have in store.”

The song premiered on Lamar’s YouTube channel, and the pre-order link on Google Music shows that the album will be just under $10 and will contain 14 songs.

“Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is amazing, from its cast to its director,” Lamar added in the statement. “The magnitude of this film showcases a great marriage of art and culture. I’m truly honored to contribute my knowledge of producing sound and writing music alongside Ryan and Marvel’s vision.”

“Working on such a powerful movie is a great opportunity,” Tiffith added. “We’re always working on new goals at TDE, so teaming up with Disney, Marvel Studios and the Black Panther film makes perfect sense.”

Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, and the soundtrack is scheduled to be released on February 9. In case you want to watch it for the thousandth time, take a look at the trailer for the film below.
