When we said we were ready for this Missy and Timbo collab, we meant that sh*t. ICYMI, news was reported on Sunday that the duo is back at it, with new music from Missy slated to drop in 2019. If you were born before, say, 1995, you probably don’t understand how major this is. That’s alright. That’s why Google exists.
And if you choose to type “Missy Elliott and Timbaland” into your search bar, you’ll hopefully learn that they were two of the pioneers at the top of Virginia’s ’90s musical renaissance. Let longtime collaborator Magoo tell it, Missy and Tim always had it.
“Back then, we knew that Missy and Tim were hot. We knew about Missy’s ‘The Rain,'” Magoo—real name Lenny Holmes—told Redbull Music Academy in 2015. “My career today wouldn’t be what it is without Missy and Timbaland. I thank the Lord for them … They were teachers and innovators. I still love Missy and Tim. They will always be my favorites. I’m so happy for her that she’s coming back.”
