It turns out that an unlikely source triggered the altercation on Jamie Foxx‘s 57th birthday, which left him in stitches—and we don’t mean that figuratively.
It seems like the Jackass crew were also at the legendary restaurant Mr. Chow’s in Beverly Hills that night and decided it was the right time to prank Foxx.
In one of the most bizarre celebrity incidents we can think of in recent years, Foxx’s table, which included his 16-year-old daughter Analise and his daughter Corrine, 30, were targeted with a laser image of a penis.
Yup, you read that right. Some members of the production team of Jackass, MTV’s notoriously unhinged prank show created by Johnny Knoxville, Jeff Tremaine, and Spike Jonze, had rented out the upstairs VIP room at the celebrity eatery. They sent the birthday boy a drink and then asked him to wave at them. When he did, he and several of the 50 or so folks he was dining with noticed the graphic image projected onto the table.
TMZ says that Foxx and several people with him went to confront the individuals from Dickhouse Productions, the crew behind Jackass. When they did, a heated confrontation took place, and Foxx was hit with a heavy glass.
“It’s my birthday, what is wrong with you?” Foxx was overheard saying. He left his own party to get his lip stitched, per reports.
“Although the crew has the greatest respect for Jamie, the version of events that has been presented is totally inaccurate and deeply unfair to those attending their holiday celebration that night,” Dickhouse attorney Bryan Freedman said.
Yet Foxx’s version seems to jibe with other reports that the Jackass folks continued to harass people with Foxx’s group, leading the restaurant to call the police.
“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” a rep for Foxx told Page Six. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in law enforcement’s hands.”
On his social media accounts, Foxx posted shortly afterward:
“The devil is a lie. Can’t win here… thank you to everybody that pray and check on me… when your light is shining bright… they try to bring you darkness … but they don’t know that you’re built for it… the lights have been shining bright… and huge thank yous to everyone that have watched and been inspired by What Had Happened Was … number 1 on @netflix if you haven’t checked it out please go check it out it’s from my heart and my soul…”
Foxx’s What Had Happened Was detailed his journey through the brain bleed and stroke he suffered in 2022. It was released on Netflix on Dec. 10 to mostly glowing reviews and is currently the No.1 show on the streamer.
