There was a bench-clearing brawl in Detroit today (August 24) during a game between the Tigers and the New York Yankees. The fight started after Tigers’ star Miguel Cabrera pushed and swung at Yankees’ catcher Austin Romine.

Cabrera was upset about the previous pitch from Yankees’ reliever Tommy Kahnle, which almost hit him. Kahnle was ejected for intentionally throwing at Cabrera, who then exchanged heated words with Romine before setting off the melee by squaring up with the catcher. Both players were later ejected.

Soon after the fight was broken up, Yankees reliever Dellin Betances was also ejected after he hit Tigers’ catcher James McCann in the head with a 98-mile-per-hour fastball. That, of course, caused a second bench-clearing battle royale.

The Tiger won the game 10-6, but you can expect the commissioner’s office to hand down some serious suspensions and fines for this spectacle.
