Kelis’ milkshake might get all the boys to the yard, but for Missy Elliott, it’s the cookies that do the trick. Girl Scout Cookies, to be exact.
Larry “The Blackspot” Hester recalls an incident that took place when he was working for a music countdown video show, and legendary femcee Missy Elliott was a guest. When she arrived on set, he remembers, “all the little girls started screaming and cheering, they asked for autographs.” Hester remembered one in particular who got Missy’s attention. “One enterprising little girl yelled out, ‘Hey Missy, I know you can afford some cookies.’ Everybody just cracked up laughing, including Missy,” Hester says.
Needless to say, that Girl Scout hit her quota for cookie season in just one afternoon.
