Far from a rookie in the rap game, North Carolina’s Rapsody is looking to set herself apart with her latest album, Laila’s Wisdom. The recent Roc Nation signee is releasing her first album with the label on September 22.
This past Tuesday (Sept.12), Rapsody dropped a preview for the new project via Instagram, letting the world know that she tapped some of the best names in music for features. With her collaboration with Anderson.Paak serving as the soundtrack for the post, the slides each name artists who appear on the album. Features for Laila’s Wisdom include the aforementioned Anderson.Paak, Black Thought, Musiq Soulchild, Kendrick Lamar, Moonchild, Lance Skiiwalker, and Busta Rhymes. But make no mistake, it’s Rapsody who’s the conductor of this hip-hop orchestra, and she puts her unique and soulful stamp on the project.
The album also features production from Terrace Martin and frequent collaborator 9th Wonder. The lead single, “You Should Know,” features Busta Rhymes.
With the project receiving big-time praise from some of the legends of hip-hop, September 22 can’t come soon enough.
