As if dropping the trailer for The Last Jedi wasn’t enough, the Star Wars universe isn’t done yet with exciting news.
Director Ron Howard just announced the next film in the Star Wars movie series. There were rumors that following 2016’s film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, there would be other secondary films created to fill in the backstory for the franchise’s film arc that now spans eight films. It turns out those rumors were right. Solo: A Star Wars Story will focus on the tales of legendary smuggler turned hero Han Solo and will be set prior to the events of the original Star Wars trilogy.
Howard announced the title via social media after principal photography on the film officially wrapped. The famed director has a track record of using social media to let fans in on the action. He has chronicled the production of films on Twitter and Instagram, including posting photos of Donald Glover, who’s starring as Lando Calrissian.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is slated for release on May 25, 2018.
