Suicide by Sunlight, a short film directed by Nikyatu Jusu and co-written by R. Shanea Williams, tells the story of Valentina. She’s a bad-ass daywalker protected by her melanin “who finds it difficult to suppress her bloodlust when a new woman is brought around her estranged twin daughters.”

Along with four other films (Marianne Amelinckx’s Vuela; Nicole Emanuele’s Wingmen; Myna Joseph’s No Fault; and Anna Zlokovic’s Girl Wants Magic), the flick will be the recipient of a production grant and production support courtesy of Tribeca Studios. We weren’t aware this was something we needed, but now that  it’s on our radar, we need that release date—stat.

If you’re hip, then you probably recognize the name from Jusu’s web series, which began creating buzz back in 2013. While further details have yet to be released, you can get a taste for what to expect via the series’ teaser clip below.
