Twitter just greenlit a movie. Seriously.

As if we needed another example of the epic power of social media, a movie plot hatched on Twitter — involving Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o robbing rich white dudes blind — is now officially coming to a theater near you. The idea came about when this photo of the two women surfaced online:

The story basically wrote itself from there:

Cut to this weekend at the Cannes film festival, where Netflix decided to take this idea very seriously and got all the parties together for an intense negotiation. The streaming giant clearly threw enough money at the concept and managed to get not only Rih and Lupita on board, but director Ava DuVernay, and a script written by Issa Rae. According to sources, Netflix landed the project in a very aggressive bid, beating out multiple suitors.

The plot, as written by Twitter, is basically as follows: Rihanna plays a hot con artist who scams rich white dudes, and Lupita is her brilliant partner who plans the heists. Think Thelma and Louise meets Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Twitter even wrote an ending to the story:

Now it’s just a matter of negotiating who gets story credit.
