The hype around Crazy Rich Asians was incredible when it first debuted as a novel by Kevin Kwan—now we’re finally getting a sneak peek at what John Chu’s movie adaptation is going to look like.

The story tells the tale of Native New Yorker and Chinese economics professor Rachel Chu, played by Fresh Off the Boat‘s Constance Wu, as she accompanies her longtime boyfriend, Nick Young (Henry Golding) to his best friend’s wedding in Singapore. When she arrives, she realizes that he not only belongs to one of the nation’s richest families, but he’s basically Singapore’s Prince Harry. Suddenly, Rachel is dealing with things she had never imagined: jealous socialites, a disapproving parent, and an entirely different trip than she thought she’d have.

In addition to Wu and Golding, the film features an all-star cast—Lisa Lu, Ken Jeong, and rapper and actress Awkwafina will be gracing the big screen. The movie has developed a cult following for the inclusion of Asian-American actors, director, and of course, characters. In fact, it’s the first time that a film with Asian-American voices has debuted in two decades.

Without a doubt, this movie is one to look out for when it comes out on August 17. Check out the trailer above.
