Last week on Power, while Ghost and his family struggled to celebrate Tariq’s birthday, Kanan was out making sure his planted seeds of discourse grew. With everything crumbling around him, Ghost runs in the arms of the lord and Angela. And after his talk with Reverend Macedon Ghost is now a changed man and tries to tackles his problems a different way in the sixth episode of season five.

Ghost Starts The I Am Changed Man Tour

The episode picks right up where last week’s left off with the former couple reunited inside Angela’s apartment. Ghost is fresh off his drunken stupor, and he no longer wants to lie anymore so comes clean to Angela. He reveals to his ex-girlfriend every reason he told her to clarify why he ended their relationship was a lie. He admits that he left Angela because Milan threatened to kill her so he figured breaking up with her would keep her safe. Angela was taken aback by the revelation and decides she needs to sleep on it. She tells Ghost he can stay the night, but he’s not getting any action and has to sleep on the couch.

After a sleepless night for the both of them, Angela feels the opportunity is a good time for her to come clean to Ghost about her moves recently. Right before she is about to share her truths with him, she is interrupted by a knock on the door. Ghost implores Angela to ignore it but can’t because the person knocking is none other than Tasha. Ghost’s ex-wife is immediately shocked to see Ghost there as he is surprised to see her paying a visit to the woman he cheated on her with and she hates. The reason for Tasha’s impromptu visit is because of Detective Leary’s unexpected visit looking for the gun which means they are getting close to discovering who killed Raina.

Ghost is utterly shocked that Angela knows all of the details and can’t understand why Tasha didn’t tell him that both her and Angela have been working together. He goes from a state of surprise to understanding when Tasha reveals she didn’t tell him about her and Angela working together because she didn’t trust him. He agrees to let them handle the situation, Angela knows the feds are looking to bring in Tasha for interrogation, so she begins to prepare her for it.

Another sign of Ghost doing things a bit differently was his decision to opt for a truce between him and Dre. His former protegé scoffs at the notion but Ghost feels the two of them working together would be more beneficial than them warring with each other. Dre finally agrees to the truce, and it comes with a very interesting stipulation. Ghost wants Dre to take out Tommy’s connect —and growing problem Jason— and Dre has a Diego issue that needs solving. The two former enemies (for now) agree to take out each other’s problems. We still can’t help but wonder if they both are playing each other in the end, especially Ghost who always stays one step ahead of his foes.

Tariq Continues Down His Dark Path

Fresh off making his dad look like an absolute fool, Tariq is back at school, but he’s back on the path his parents have been trying to keep him away from— a life of crime. His disdain from his father pushed him back in the company of Kanan who is grooming the kid for his sinister purpose. Last week we saw Riq steal some prescription pills from his mom after an intense conversation where she left her son wondering if, in fact, she wished he was dead instead of Raina.

Kanan —who was explicitly warned by Tommy not to hang around his nephew— pays Riq a visit at his new school. He notices the primarily white environment and notes that it’s prime real estate to push pills. Riq puts that nugget in the back of his mind while the two are hanging out. The Training Day scenario takes the duo to one of Kanan’s suppliers, and the visit gets intense, giving Riq a crash course into how to deal with people who try to change the terms on you. Kanan beats the break off the supplier for even trying to alter their arrangement and left him a bloody mess. The two go, and when they arrive at the checkpoint, Riq shows is his usefulness by helping them get out of dodge after someone reported a loud noise coming from the house they just left.

With his taste for the drug life and fast money back, Dre decides to push the pills his white roommate was begging him for. Meanwhile, his poor dad who is trying to make things right after their heated argument is getting ignored by his son every time he calls him.

Teresi Makes Gets Closer To Tommy

Teresi is under tons of pressure to find some dirt on his son and Ghost. Last week, he enlisted the help of his best friend Sammy after an intense situation where Vinny made the former “stand up guy” choose between his son or his friend as a form of punishment. Newly changed man Ghost stops by Tommy’s apartment and is surprised at the sight of his former jailmate Teresi being there.

Ghost asks Teresi to excuse them so they can talk but Tommy insists whatever Ghost has to say to him can be mentioned in front of his so-called father. Ghost reveals to his brother that he can no longer wash his money in the club because Tate revealed to him that the feds are auditing him. Any hints of drug money could put an end to the Queens Child Project. Teresi is soaking all of this in and quickly runs to Mak and Saxe with the new information he overheard.

Teresi wants the two thirsty prosecutors to relax because the audit will blow his cover and get him killed. He insists they let him continue to work on Tommy so he can lure in the big fish. They reluctantly agree but warn him that time is running short and they won’t hesitate to throw him back in the clink.

To “help” his son Teresi introduces a new way for Tommy to move his product by putting it inside packages of ramen noodles. The plan is to push the products in jail, it’s a foolproof way for both Teresi and Sammy to make money and at the same time help him deliver the goods to Mak and Saxe. Tommy loves the plan but has no idea what his dad is planning behind his back. Or does he?

Dre Is Trying To Get Things Under Control

All season long Dre has been learning it’s not easy being the boss. He has to deal with insubordination, and his drug suppliers the Jimenez Cartel are proving to be dangerous. Last week Diego visited Dre and was upset about the feds finding his tacky gold gun. He doesn’t say it, but he felt Dre or someone in his crew planted the weapon setting him up. Unbeknownst to him, it was his sister that set up him and is trying to get rid of her crazy brother.

Dre is entirely paranoid about his Spanish-speaking cohorts mainly Cristobal and his crew that Kanan has been taking out one by one. He decides to enlist the help of the new leader of the Toros Locos gang Arturo to help him translate what they are saying. When speaking to Arturo, Dre learns that Alicia is the one who could have possibly set him up. Arturo who is not one of the shows brightest characters slips up by saying he heard Diego and Alicia got arrested. Taking this new information he tells Arturo to be at the meeting with the Jimenez in an hour, Dre also finds himself a new scapegoat in Arturo as well.

After making a deal with Ghost to get his job and club back he made the deal to take out Ghost’s problem if his former boss did the same for him. At the meet with Alicia, he tells her that Arturo is the one who snitched on them and Arturo reveals that Diego knows he was set up by his sister. He brings up that idea to Alicia that there is a plan to take out Diego without even mentioning the fact the person who is going to help cancel Christmas on Diego is Ghost himself. Alicia agrees and gives the order to take out poor Arturo in the process.

The Feds Are Coming

Ghost, Tommy, Tasha, and Angela may not know it yet but the Feds are hot on their tails and with the help of Blanca Rodriguez, they are now closer than ever before. Mak and Saxe are exhausting all avenues they need to bring down Ghost and their new boss Angela. Mak knows that if he wants Ghost, his best bet would be through Proctor. He already tried applying pressure to Ghost’s all-star lawyer so his next best move would be his recovering addict ex-wife Lindsay.

Mak knows that her having custody of her daughter again is all she wants and uses that as a way to get information out of her. She reveals to the eager prosecutor the location of Proctor while he is meeting with someone on the criminal side of his family whom he says he no longer associates with directly.  Mak pops up on them and reveals to the disbarred lawyer that he will be backing his ex’s custody case. He warns Proctor that he has 48 hours to talk or he will get a warrant and come for him for lying about dealing with the criminal element of his family.

That leaves Proctor in a severe bind, but he doesn’t want to rat on his clients cause he knows that could mean his death. So Proctor decides to hit up Ghost to secure some coke in hopes he could get his ex-wife to relapse, but that fails miserably when she throws the baggie she finds in the envelope with the alimony check.

That leaves Tasha, and she is currently waiting to get grilled about the missing gun. She has been thoroughly prepped by Angela but is blindsided to see that Blanca will be the one to carry out the interrogation. Blanca comes out swinging, but Tasha is a G and doesn’t fold. Things do get shaky when Blanca presents the scenario of Angela being the one who pointed out the bullet in the first place and possibly linking up with her ex-husband to have her take the fall for Ray Ray’s murder. Tasha seems like she is considering it but stands by her claims that Ghost did not kill Ray Ray and that her new lover Terry Silver will back her up. Terry already doesn’t want anything to do with her lying, but we shall see if she can convince him otherwise.

The feds struck out with Tasha and Tameika feels it is time to wrap up the investigation because it’s not leading anywhere. Mak walks into the office with a business envelope containing some new information highlight some shady dealings with Councilman Tate. Saxe takes the folder and discovers that bullet matches Tasha’s missing gun revealing that Angela buried the evidence. Finally, the break in the case they have been desperately searching for has arrived. They better hope Silver comes through for Tasha because if he doesn’t they are all going to jail.
