In late August, London singer-songwriter Nao released “Make It Out Alive,” the second single from her forthcoming sophomore album, Saturn. Featuring TDE signee SiR—who joined the team early last year—the single aptly encapsulates the anxiety that comes with life’s sometimes daunting ebbs and flows.

“I’d hit my late twenties and everything was in flux; relationships, work life, home situation, everything,” Nao said of the track in a press release. “I was lost and I genuinely had to ask ‘how do you make it out of here?’.”

A newly released video captures Nao delivering an acoustic version of the single backed by a guitarist strumming from a vintage whip. The video was shot in California while SiR shot scenes for the music video. It also makes us wish we lived in California.

“A guitarist friend said he could come down and we had a behind the scenes cameraman with us so we just shot it off the cuff,” Nao shared with Highsnobiety.

“We saw this amazing Ford Mustang and it had its lock smashed off so I didn’t think anyone would mind us sitting in it (if the owner of the car is watching, thank you)! I didn’t know it at the time but about 3 feet from where I’m singing here we later found a nest of black widow spiders, literally hundreds of them with their egg sacks and babies. So I really did only just make it out alive!”

Saturn is slated to drop on Oct. 26. Oh yeah, and she’s on tour.
