It’s Official: Missy Elliot Is the First Woman in Hip-Hop to Be Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

“I want to CONGRATULATE all the AMAZING songwriters who have been inducted into the 2019 Song Writers Hall of Fame🙌🏾🙌🏾,” she tweeted on Saturday. “also those who were nominated because their body of work is AMAZING🙌🏾 I AM SO HUMBLY GRATEFUL to now be inducted also🙏🏾 I ❤️you all🤗 #SHOF2019 ✍🏾”
As noted by The Root, Missy has written songs for everyone from Beyoncé to Whitney Houston, and–of course–Aaliyah.

Bad Boys 3 Starts Filming Today.
Today’s the big day: Bad Boys 3—AKA Bad Boys for Life—starts filming today, and Will Smith is excited.
ICYMI: Smith made quite a crash landing onto the set last week. Hopefully cast mate Martin Lawrence has forgiven him for the mess he made in his office. From the looks of the below photo, we’re guessing he has.
Bad Boys 3 is in theaters January 17, 2020.
R. Kelly Allegedly Physically Abused Aaliyah.
In May 2018, Jim DeRogatis—who has been covering R. Kelly for almost 20 years—shared during a New York Times podcast that court documents from the annulment of their marriage reveal that Kelly may have been trying to avoid physical abuse charges.
“The annulment of the Aaliyah marriage and Aaliyah’s legal claim against him had been sealed in Detroit … they were sealed by the court but those documents were provided to me,” DeRogatis said.
“It’s a harrowing document, a non-disclosure agreement on both her part and Kelly’s, vowing not to pursue further legal claims for physical abuse. So it wasn’t just an underage sexual relationship, he hit her, allegedly, according to that court document.”
