BRUHstrology is where the astral plane and corner store meet. With the expert help of astrologer Janelle Belgrave (and our resident BRUHstrologer, Bruce Goodwin II), CASSIUS decodes your horoscope so you don’t have to. We know we missed February and March (our bad!), but we’re BACK now. Hopefully you made it through the retrograde in one piece. Here’s what’s on deck for the month of April 2019.

Aries

The Astrologer Says:

April will ask you what’s next on the horizon, Aries. It kicks off with a fiery New Moon in your sign, presenting you with a chance to start fresh. You’re free of Uranus and his sudden unexpected changes for good, but he’s left you with a streak for brilliance and risk taking that is important to use when making plans for how your astrological new year will pan out. Use your ruling planet Mars to get you going, make lists, jot down your ideas, and speak about your vision with your friends. Speak and act it into existence. As the saying goes, thoughts become things.

Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto will begin their retrograde story, and for you, that means revisiting your life philosophies, beliefs and career ambitions to see if they still line up with your trajectory. It could be time to make some edits to the underlying thought patterns that have been driving your cart forward. Being able to say “no, this isn’t what I believe anymore” can help you with your next move.

The Full Moon on the 19th will bring your relationships into focus and point out where you can advocate for yourself while also keeping the needs of partners in mind. Finding a middle ground and having people on your team will make the rest of your life a bit easier than soldiering on alone. Gaining clarity about who you are and what you want to accomplish next will work to your advantage, as the Sun moves into Taurus on the 20th and lights up your desire to make money and invest in the activities that bring you the most pleasure.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

So you know how you wake up in the middle of the night with a sudden burst of energy that usually leads to knocking out a few loads of laundry or randomly cleaning your sneakers in the bathroom sink? Now it’s time to focus that energy on something better. Use that time to write down all the shit you really need to be doing during the day, like following up on emails and finally sliding in that girl’s DMs at a decent hour instead of 3 a.m.—that’s creepy. And there’s also an alleged Full Moon about to come through that’ll focus on your relationships. So those friends that let you disappear in the club for 30 minutes without even trying to look for you? Cut them off. The 40/40 isn’t even THAT big.

Leo

The Astrologer Says:

You need a change of scenery, Leo. There are times when doing the same ol’-same ol’ becomes…well, old. And for you, boredom is the antithesis of life, so why not shake it up a little bit? When’s the last time you went out of town, picked up a new book, learned a new skill, or tried a new takeout spot? Take advantage of the New Moon on the 5th by planning an adventure, ideally one that gets you out of the house and somewhere far away, though mental and spiritual travel will also do if you have a tight budget.

Find your inspiration and use it to fuel your steps forward. With the big boys—Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto—starting their retrograde journey this month, you’ll be asked to review if you’ve been using your creative abilities to their full potential. Make it a practice to throw yourself into the projects that you love so the stench of boredom never throws off your flow. Do your assessments now, so that by the time of the Full Moon comes around on the 19th, you’ll be ready to keep up with the increased flow of communications, to-do lists, and opportunities coming your way.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

Get out of the house more, bruh. I’m not asking you to pick up a book or finally go to that sip and paint your girl has been begging you to go to, but do something. You can start with something small like instead of watching the playoffs whilst chilling on the couch, hit up your favorite bar and watch the game there. Maybe you’ll even make a few friends or at least break a few balls of those extremely annoying Golden State Warriors fans while your there. Hint: just remind them that Kevin Durant won’t be on their team next year and bring up Draymond Green’s bizarre shooting form.

Sagittarius

The Astrologer Says:

You’ve been too serious as of late, Sadge, and it’s been wearing on you more than you realize. April is a month to remind yourself of the joy of creating, playing, and falling in love. When’s the last time you’ve felt carefree and unburdened? If your productive and general mood has peaked into a funky standstill, use the New Moon on the 5th to throw yourself a party. Set intentions to take pleasure in works that you do, add color  to your day-to-day, and remind yourself that life is for living out loud.

Jupiter, your ruling planet, is getting ready to go retrograde on the 10th, and he’ll be asking you to take a good look at yourself, Centaur. How are you expanding in the world? Are you radiating your best self, or could you rework your personal vision of who you are so that you feel more confident presenting yourself? Ask yourself if you’re playing small so that you won’t be seen, and ask why.

The Full Moon on the 19th will give you an opportunity to be amongst others who share your vision of the future and want to help you build it, so go out and play with them and allow your creativity and collective vision of success help fuel your fires again. By the time time Taurus season begins on the 20th, you’ll be feeling ready to set an actionable to-do list that will support you in feeling confident that you can do it all.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

You’ve been wilding out in the group chat as of late, not laughing at memes, hating the Old Town Road remix, nearly spazzed on your work spouse last week because you ran out of staples… It’s not that deep, fam. Take a step back and realize that it’s finally spring and enjoy the good things in life. Your ruling planet is about to go into lemonade which means it’s all about YOU. Look in the mirror and get yourself right. What good is the fresh tape up and immaculately manicured beard if you’re sad as hell on the inside?

Taurus

The Astrologer Says:

Happy Birthday, Taurus! But before you blow out the candles on your cake, take the first part of the month to get your spirit in order. The New Moon on the 5th wants you to hit the retreat button and take some time out to meditate on the last 12 months of your life. There have been some pretty dramatic and unexpected changes in your world, and it’s best to take a minute to breathe and formulate a vision of what you hope to achieve before Uranus grabs you by the hand and takes you off on a wild adventure.

Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto beginning their retrograde journey this month want you to revisit and redefine what your passions are and whether or not you have the discipline and focus to explore having them. Consider this a good time to examine how unresolved debts or emotional fears and baggage could be keeping you stuck in place when you could allow your desires to be your guide forward instead.

Don’t fret, Taurus. You know better than most that there’s a time and a place for everything. Use the Full Moon on the 19th to start crafting an actionable list of things you can do to see your plans come to fruition, but be prepared to put in the work and dig deep into your spiritual reserves to see it come to life.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

Yes, it’s your birthday season. But before you overindulge in whatever vice tickles you fancy, recognize all the bullshit you’ve had to go through the past year to get where you are. Retrograde is also happening to you, so be sure to figure out what your true passion is and do it. Whether it’s building that gaming PC you’ve been bragging about for years with all the RAM you could dream of, or just getting that promotion at your job because you know it’s time to boss up—write that shit down then do it.

Virgo

The Astrologer Says:

Even though much of your energy and focus is directed at working toward your career and establishing yourself as a warrior in that regard, the heavens also want you to take a good look at your financial affairs. There’s no use in working overtime to make more money if your debts and spendings are leaking your gains all over the place. Take the energy of the New Moon on the 5th to organize and strategize your income, especially if you have loans and debts to settle. If you’ve been in the market for a loan this would be an excellent time to research your options so that you get the best rate.

Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto beginning their retrograde journey this month want you to revisit and reconsider how your home life, familial psychology and creative pursuits are shaping your world. If you feel like you’re holding yourself back due to fears of inability or lack of talent, kindly throw those thoughts away and make an effort to resolve underlying patterns that are keeping you from taking healthy risks.

The Full Moon on the 19th will be illuminating themes around money, but also self-worth and confidence. Perhaps it’s been easier for you to expend energy on others but not yourself or it could be the reverse where you’re being stingy with your abundance and have insecurity about having more than enough. Do the financial review ahead of the Sun moving into Taurus on the 20th, as he’ll be calling you to go on a long distance adventure of the mind, body or soul that may require a little cash.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

Building you career as a result of your passion is cool as fuck, we get it. But like, what about that check that comes through every two weeks? Working all those hours just to spend obscene amounts on Jordans and building your vintage vinyl collection isn’t the wave. You’ve gotta start budgeting better so that you have something to show for all the hard work you put in, which will make that next job hop easier to accomplish… or allow you to save enough to disappear to a random island in the Caribbean. And that’s what we call f*ck you money. Oh, and make sure you get your taxes done, because the last thing you want is the IRS on your ass.

Capricorn

The Astrologer Says:

Kick off your shoes and relax your feet, Seagoat. April is a month for chillin’ at home and tending to what’s important with your family. You’ve been burning your candle from both ends, and the New Moon on the 5th wants you to take this an opportunity relax at home for a bit to recover your energy. Get to work on that decorative project you’ve been meaning to get to, handle all your chores, and enjoy a few lazy days on the couch with the people you love most.

Saturn, your ruling planet, begins his retrograde journey on the 29th, and as he goes backward, he wants you to reflect on you and your maturity. You’ve always been one to take your responsibilities seriously, but there is such a thing as taking on the woes of the world as your own. Ask yourself whether it would be to your benefit to lighten up and also lighten your load by learning to share your burdens with others.

The Full Moon on the 19th will be highlighting the balance between your work and home life, so expect to have to move back and forth between the demands of those two worlds. You could find yourself at the center of attention on the job with extra tasks to handle as well. Learn to delegate so that you don’t find yourself burning out. By the time the Sun enters Taurus on the 20th, you’ll be in the mindset to go out and enjoy a little pleasure for a change. Treat yourself to a good time, Capricorn. Springtime is here for you to enjoy.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

A Capricorn? Stressing? And not knowing when to take a break and share burdens? Ya don’t say. Learn to worry about the things you can change and forget about everything else. Whether it be the Jordans you desperately wanted getting pushed back, stressing out about when we’ll finally get a Rick Ross album in time for summer, or something way more serious, you’ve just gotta know when to let it go.

… We really do need a new Rick Ross album, though.

Gemini

The Astrologer Says:

April is a month for wishing upon stars, Gemini. The New Moon on the 5th wants you to either invest in your longterm wishes or be bold enough to pick all new hopes to fight for. Close your eyes and envision what want to see come true, as well as the people that you’d want to see fighting alongside you. Sit with this as the retrogrades of Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto want you to reconsider how your relationships are helping you to expand and grow as a person. They also want you to think about whether or not these partnerships help you face underlying fears that block you from pursuing your dreams.

The Full Moon on the 19th wants you to check the balance between your independent creative pursuits and how you use them for the collective. Are you letting your light get lost under a bushel? Are you constantly giving your creative energy to the group but can’t seem to shine bright for yourself? Or is it the reverse where you’re the star of all the shows to the detriment of everyone else around you?

If you need time to figure it out, the Sun moving into Taurus on the 20th will encourage you to take a break from the public and enjoy some alone time so you can sort it all out ahead of your birthday season.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

We’re three months into 2019, so it’s time to reassess your life. Did the choices you make at the top of the year ruin the first quarter for you? Then it’s time to switch to something that might work. Get back in the gym so you can be out in Miami in a few months with no shirt to show off what you’ve been working on… or just chill with your white tee on— there’s no judgment from us. Start investing in yourself. Instead of always helping your friend out with their problems, make sure you’re taking care of your problems first, homie.

Libra

The Astrologer Says:

April is a month that spotlights your favorite topic: relationships! But the thing is, Libra, you’ll be challenged to stand your ground more than you realize. The New Moon on the 5th will be firing up the people that you partner with, making them come across as pushy and reactive. Your task is to set boundaries and clear lines in the sand so that you’re not bullied or forced to compromise on things that you shouldn’t. Trust in your ability to find common ground, but also know when to strike back when people test your limits of graciousness. As the saying goes: don’t mistake niceness for weakness.

Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto begin their retrograde journey this month, and they’ll be asking you to reconsider how confidently you communicate and if underlying fears from the past or current home and family demands may be influencing your life. Venus, your ruling planet, enters Aries on the 20th as the Sun moves into Taurus the same day. This gives you opportunities to aggressively throw your focus into your relationships while also paying attention to matters of intimacy, vulnerability, and the sharing of energy and resources. This is a transformative time for you Libra, but remember you’re the lead captain of this ship; work well with your crew, but always stand firm in your own power to lead.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

Hey Libra, we know this is tough for you, but it’s time to learn how to set boundaries—healthy ones. There’s mad retrogrades poppin’ off this month, which means your communication skills need to be A1. And if not, people will walk all over you, so not only will you be at work late doing expense reports that aren’t yours, but you’ll also be stuck listening to your homeboy cry on the phone for five hours because someone else flewed out his girlfriend. You should be worried about that big presentation the next morning, bro.

Aquarius

The Astrologer Says:

Prepare to be busy for the month of April, Water Bearer. The fiery New Moon on the 5th will be lighting up your communications and local travel, so expect an uptick in emails, texts, phone calls, and engagements that you’ll be asked to attend. If your mind has been feeling a bit foggy thanks to Mercury retrograde last month, you should be feeling a lot more present and focused now. Jot down those ideas that have been swirling around you so that you don’t feel like you’re moving at the speed of light while also forgetting everything important than runs through your head.

Your planetary ruler Saturn beings his retrograde journey on the 29th and will be pointing out where you’ve been letting unconscious fears and the burden of responsibility stand in the way of expressing yourself to the fullest. It’s not about perfectionism, Aquarius, but working diligently despite all the flaws and insecurities.

The Full Moon on the 19th wants you to feast your eyes on something new. Go have an adventure that leaves you feeling inspired and motivated to continue pushing for the future. Learning something new and meeting interesting people with fresh point of views can liven up your mind with a dose of optimism. By the time the Sun moves into Taurus on the 20th you’ll be ready to catch a breather at home and replenish your energy and peace of mind before charging off again.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

It’s spring, so it’s time to start popping out. Whether that be work happy hours with the coworkers you really can’t stand but know you need to make an effort with or brunching on Saturday (and Sunday?) morning. As you gear up for the next few months, you should take a mini adventure as well. If you can’t splurge on a week away in Santorini, a staycation can help clear your mind, too. Oh,  and if your mind has been feeling a bit foggy, chill out on the Juul.

Cancer

The Astrologer Says:

What do you want to be remembered for, Cancer? And how far would you go in order to see your best laid plans succeed? These are the questions to keep in mind, as the New Moon on the 5th wants you to light a new fire for your career and reputation goals. Word of advice is to listen to your intuition and your dreams, as they can be feeding you information about where to go next. Try not to dismiss seemingly “far out there” ideas, because they may not be as outlandish as you think.

What you may be lacking is support and work ethic, Cancer, and if that’s the case Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto will be turning around and asking you to reflect on those parts of your life. Are you giving yourself enough time and space to tend to the details? Do you have people in your corner who push you to be disciplined or are they making too many demands on your energy? Whatever the case may be, you have time to sort it out.

Use the Full Moon on the 19th to examine the overall balance in your life. Has work become all consuming to the detriment of home and family and your relationships or could you manage to redirect some energy from home to more worldly affairs? Whatever the dynamic, know that springtime is beckoning you to shake off your hesitations and throw yourself into making your hopes and wishes come true. The Sun moving into Taurus on the 20th wants you to invite your friends into the fold to hype you up and get you inspired to take on just about anything you set your sights on.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

If you’re worried about your legacy, start to think more deeply about your reputation. If your eye twitches when you hear the word reputation, it’s a sign, bro. If you’re known as the friend who always skips out on his turn to buy drinks, takes forever to answer texts, and never passes the aux cord, it’s time to rethink the way you treat people. Try harder to balance work and life without leaving one in the dust. Figuratively, don’t be the person who doesn’t contribute to the damn group project.

Scorpio

The Astrologer Says:

There are times when you have to work twice as hard to get things done, Scorpio. With your ruling planet Mars in Gemini for the month, you may find that you have to put in twice the effort to see the results you want. In this case, you’ll have to dedicate yourself to making big and small changes to your life so that you can see the type of transformation you’ve been looking for.

The Full Moon on the 5th wants you to get energized and enthusiastic about not only your to-do list, but also your overall health. Are you moving enough? Sweating enough? Sometimes when we’re feeling stuck, getting our blood flowing is just the remedy we need. Commit to moving your energy and staying dedicated to completing the tasks that can ultimately see your income and resources increase.

The retrogrades of Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto this month want you to revisit how you’ve been handling your finances, your sense of self worth and your ability to communicate with authority over the next few months. Consider how you’ve been talking about yourself, your current situation, and whether there’s room for a more positive, yet grounded way to spin things.

The Full Moon on the 19th will offer you another opportunity to step back and reflect on the balance between your spiritual and physical well-being. Are you giving yourself enough time to dream up a vision to go after, or has it just been mindless tasks and work? As the Sun enters Taurus on the 20th, try reaching out to others for another point of view, as well as collaborators who be of support to you.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

Yo. To keep it real with you Scorpio, it’s just gonna be a long-ass month.

Pisces

The Astrologer Says:

Money, money, money, moo-ney… moo-neeeey! That’s the theme for the month of April, Pisces. You start off the month with an energized New Moon on the 5th that wants you to get involved in your finances and assess how strong they are. It could be time for an overhaul, or at least a reimagining of what your money can do for you and how confident you feel about making more than enough to get you by.

With Jupiter your ruling planet turning retrograde on the 10th, you’ll be given an opportunity to review your career and reputation objectives and how you’ve been using the King of the Heavens’ scepter of good luck to your benefit. Whatever Jupiter touches tends to expand and get bigger, so ask yourself where you can revise and maximize upon your current position so that you’ll be prepared to go to the next level by the time Jupiter turns direct again in August. Saturn and Pluto also go retrograde this month and they’ll be asking you to review your longterm hopes and wishes for the future, as well as the people you’d like by your side to help you build it.

Remember that Rome wasn’t built in a day, nor was built by a single person, so invite like-minded people into your life who want to collaborate with you in that regard. By the time the Sun enters Taurus on the 20th you’ll be feeling ready to communicate your ideas and plans and take on a more active mindset that allows you to accomplish all that’s necessary to see the results you’re after.

The BRUHstrologer Says:

I have no idea what the King of the Heaven’s scepter is, but focus on your money, Pisces. If you’ve been hoarding it all summer, then perhaps you spend a little now to re-up your spring and summer wardrobe. Or, recognize that there are bigger things at play and save that money for a rainy day or finally decide to invest in Apple. And no, you probably shouldn’t try and buy bitcoin— that’s so last spring.
