Anthony Edwards' "My D-ck Bigger Than Yours" Comment

This morning, Anthony Edwards is waking up with a playoff loss, thanks to Luka Doncic‘s 31-point performance and $50,000 less in his bank account.  It began on Sunday, when Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.  Edwards was sitting on the scorer’s table during a timeout in the third quarter when he got into a back-and-forth with a bunch of Lakers fans. His teammate, Donte Devincenzo, sat beside him as fans began to heckle Rudy Gobert.

Edwards jumps in to defend Gobert by bragging about his contract, which is currently a three-year $109 million deal, but touts career earnings of around $260 million. “He got $200 million,” Edwards repeats while pointing at the 7-foot center. In turn, the fans reference Edwards’ paternity issues, asking, “Where your kids at?” Gobert then corrects him, saying he’s actually banked $300 million, leading to Edwards ending the interaction by grabbing his junk and saying “my d-ck bigger” before walking off. Just hours before Game 2, Edwards’ punishment came down from league officials. “Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $50,000 for directing inappropriate language and making an obscene gesture toward a fan, it was announced today by Byron Spruell, President, League Operations,” the statement read. In Game 1, though, the Wolves went on to deliver such a beatdown of the Lakers, winning 117-95, that even LeBron James admits he had to adjust.  “Maybe it took us one playoff game to now get a feel for it and know the type of intensity, the type of physicality that is going to be brought to the game, but that’s just the way they play,” he said after the game. “We should be more than prepared for that on Tuesday night.” And prepared they were, as they evened the series at 1-1, spurred by an early 22-point lead and aided by James’ 21-point performance.
