Sean “Diddy” Combs remains in jail until his scheduled trial in May on allegations of sex trafficking. But now we’re just finding out that the disgraced rap star was taken to the hospital late last week in a trip that was made after hours to avoid publicity.
The New York Post reports that Combs, 55, was taken from his cell at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn to a nearby hospital to undergo an MRI. It appears that the former mogul was taken there due to chronic issues with his knee. Per the report, Combs has had problems with the knee since he challenged Oprah to beat her time in the New York Marathon, which he ran back in 2003. He did achieve the time that bested Lady O’s, but it came with a cost. In 2017, he had his third knee surgery in the same year.
“Just had my final knee surgery,” he posted on Instagram that February. They’d said I’d never run again. I said the devil is a liar. 3 surgeries in one year! 3rd times the charm!!! #Rebirth.”
He added, “Don’t take the simple things in life for granted. Thank you to all the surgeons and, docs and PTs. I THANK GOD FOR YALL!”
Combs hasn’t been outside the MDC except for court since he was denied bail multiple times. He has been in the MDC – the same place Jeffery Epstein died by suicide – after coming to New York from Miami in expectation of being arrested. The Feds raided his Miami and Los Angeles properties weeks beforehand, and he was arrested on Sept. 16.
Dubbed a flight risk, and despite his willingness to put up millions for a bond and agree to restrictive conditions, the Bad Boy founder was not granted bail. He’s confined in the same jail as convicted bitcoin scammer Sam Bankman-Fried, who is currently awaiting his fate after appealing his conviction.
After his MRI, Combs was returned to jail the same night. The Bureau of Prisons released this statement to the Post, “For privacy, safety, and security reasons we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for anyone in our custody to include medical status or medical trips.”
But sources say that law enforcement was notified just in case of any “chaos.”
Combs’ trial is scheduled to start May 5.
