Facebook is serious about its crackdown on hate speech and conspiracy theories. On Thursday (May 2), the social media giant banned several controversial figures, including alt-right Hulk Hogan aka Alex Jones, Laura Loomer, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Nehlen, and Minister Louis Farrakhan—who is loved and embraced by many in the hip-hop world.

One hip-hop legend in particular, Snoop Dogg was not too happy to hear that the company that Mark Zuckerberg built banned Farrakhan and responded by threatening to boycott both Facebook and Instagram. Snoop took to his Instagram and let it be known to his 31.2 million followers: he was not feeling the move the social media platform.

“So, Facebook and Instagram banned Minister Louis Farrakhan. I want to know for what. All he ever do is tell the truth. But y’all gon’ ban him, though. Alright, what if we ban y’all? What if we stop f**kin’ with y’all, Facebook and Instagram? The f**k y’all gonna ban Minister Louis Farrakhan? For puttin’ truth out there? I stand with him. I’m with him. Ban me, mothaf**ka. Ban me, ’cause I’m gonna keep posting his sh*t.”

The Dogg Father wasn’t alone in expressing anger about the move by Facebook. Often missing rapper Jay Electronica hopped on his Twitter account and in series of Tweets also shared his support for Farrakhan.

“You (Synagouge of Satan {Rev 2:9} ) can ban The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan from social media, but you can’t ban him from the H E A R T S & M I N D S of ppl (of all races and nations) ALL OVER THE WORLD…”

Despite the two rappers speaking out, Facebook is standing by its decision, and in a statement to the New York Times a spokeswoman for the company stated:

“We’ve always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology. The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive, and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today.”

Farrakhan has been the leader of the religious movement the Nation of Islam for the last several decades which has been classified as a hate group by Southern Poverty Law Center. Despite his sermons preaching Black empowerment constantly receiving praise, Farrakhan is also well known for spewing homophobic and anti-Semitic views giving Facebook all the reasoning in the world to ban him from its platform.
