It’s time to get to werk. RuPaul’s Drag Race winner, Bob The Drag Queen, is going on the road. They’ll be on a book tour to support their new release, Harriet Tubman: Live In Concert.
The book tells the story of a fictionalized version of the American shero, who comes back from the past with four enslaved people and wants to tell her story via a rap music album. She taps into the music scene to find superstar hip-hop producer Darnell Williams, whose career has waned since he was outed on BET.
The unlikely combination leads to healing for them both.
Born Christopher Delmar Caldwell, the queer performer, artist, personality, and author, won the eighth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. He and his RuPaul’s Drag Race co-star Monet X Change co-host the podcast Sibling Rivalry, and the two starred together on Dropout’s Dimension 20: Dungeons and Drag Queens.
Bob was also featured on the most recent season of Peacock’s reality show The Traitors, proving to be a character that, well, let’s just say – spoiler warning at the link – made the most of their appearance.
Their next big appearance is as the host of The Queerties on March 11. The annual show honors the best of the LGBT+ community in arts, media, and culture.
“The Trump administration has gone full-scorched Earth in an attempt to dismantle queerness from every aspect, from trans to nonbinary; people trying to make our existence seem perverse and perverted, when in reality, queer people have been here as long as our cis, straight and hetero counterparts,” Bob told TheWrap while announcing their hosting gig.
They added, “Now more than ever, it is important for the LGBTQ+ community to celebrate its achievements and one another. “Engaging with queer content builds community. It does more than you could imagine.”
The five-city book tour starts on Tuesday, March 25, in New York City and ends on March 29 in Los Angeles.
