BRUHstrology, where the astral plane and corner store meet up.

We’re back with Bronx-based astrologer Mecca Woods, and if you thought the spring was hot, you might want to brace yourself for August. We’ve got two eclipses on deck, and both are expected to shake things up. August 7 marks a lunar eclipse in Aquarius, meaning those with major planets that fall in Aquarius, Taurus, Leo or Scorpio in their birth charts are going to feel some intensity.

“Eclipses are always important because they are game changers,” Woods explains to CASSIUS. “Ultimately what they do is help us get out of a rut, push forward, and let go of anything that isn’t working for us.” And you should prepare to learn a thing or two about yourself in the process. As Woods notes, this is a month of “revelation and action,” so expect to be catapulted into the spotlight where you’ll have to think on your feet.

Speaking of spotlight, the Leo solar eclipse on August 21—political astrologers are calling it the “Great American Eclipse” due to its expansive reach across the nation—is expected to ruffle some feathers everywhere, including in the White House. “Every time you have an eclipse that goes over a country, the people in power are always highlighted,” Woods says. Which explains why a lot of astrologers have had their eyes on the Trump administration. We’re looking at you, Agent Orange.

But back to y’all and the rest of the month. “I think that eclipse in Leo is gonna be very powerful and influential,” Woods adds. So are you ready for some major changes?

We, with the expert help of Woods (and our resident BRUHstrologist, Cory Townes), broke down what to prepare for. Read on and align your stars.

Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius)

The Astrologist Says:

Fire signs are going to have an easy time in August. Leo season is lighting their lives up, so this month is about fun and pursuing things they’re really passionate about. Fire signs have kind of felt like they’ve been on the sidelines because Cancer season had things feeling very watery and emotional. We also had Saturn in Sagittarius, which has been about being responsible—but August is the fire signs’ time to reconnect with their intense side, and in a more responsible way. The fire signs will find themselves a bit older, a bit wiser, but it’s really gonna be about reconnecting to that inner child.

The BRUHstrologist Says:

Aight, look, so it’s your time now. Earlier in the summer you might not have felt as wavy as you normally do, but it’s all good, fam. Be prepared to remove the durag of life off of your spirit and allow the world to see the waves of enjoyment that have built from resting up, staying low and building. You might’ve kept it cool in June and July, but look, go for it—whatever it is. Stunt on that project at work, hop in IG bae’s DMs—you know, the one who went on that good three-picture like spree on Instagram last week (that wasn’t on accident, G). Shine before the crisp winds of fall come back around and you gotta bring the Tech Fleece back out. These last four weeks of summer are the perfect time to find the “Yerrrrrr” to match your “YERRRRRRRRRRRRRR.”

Water Signs (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio)

The Astrologist Says:

August is gonna be about money and career for water signs. It’s going to be about leaving dead-end jobs or jobs that stress them out. It’s also going to be about thinking of what they deserve and what they’re worth in terms of getting what they want. This is a time for them to get their finances in order and get more focused in terms of what they wanna do career-wise. This is a chance for them to rise to the top.

The BRUHstrologist Says:

Your job sucks. You know it and I know it. Your boss wants you to do double the work without the salary to match, you have to hear your annoying co-workers talk all day about the dumbest things, and you literally count down to 6 p.m. as soon as you clock in. Instead of having Netflix playing in that hidden Incognito web browser on your desktop, really put some thought into what you ACTUALLY want to do. Job opportunities are gonna cross your path, but it isn’t gonna be laid out in front of you; you’re gonna have to weigh taking that big risk that’s gonna pay off when you take it. So prepare to take that leap, allocate funds for all the needs in your life (cut back on the wants and unnecessary spending, dog: those frequent UBER rides, double Hennessy shots and expensive GrubHub nights are gonna be there when you get that gig you want), and stack the bread up. Your time is coming, and then you can shine like Diddy in ’97 at the Clearport.

Air Signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra)

The Astrologist Says:

Air signs are going to be focused on relationships. For them it’s about learning to find and keep relationships that fuel and encourage them, that are supportive, and that bring out all of their best. Air signs are already people-oriented. They love to be friends, share information, circulate, network, and socialize—but the thing about them is that sometimes they can accumulate friends who really don’t have their back when it’s crunch time. August is about learning friendship from a more genuine place and really making sure that the people they surround themselves with are people they can call genuine friends. In romance, air signs will also be negotiating boundaries, because sometimes air signs are so helpful to other people and really know how to show up and compromise for others but don’t always get that same energy back. Healthy boundaries is gonna be a big deal.

The BRUHstrologist Says:

You air signs are something else, always down to make friends and take over as soon as you enter the room. But being the wavy individual that you are can bring some disturbances in the force around you. You’re gonna come in contact with people that aren’t really down for you like that, and are quick to let you down when you need them. Use this time to see who’s really squad and who’s just hitting you up because you have the connect somewhere. Be aware! The last thing you want is to realize that certain bozos are around you because you’re assisting them in their quest of being “professional plus-1s.” And as far as the dating scene, learn the boundaries you’re establishing and set up expectations in your situation. Figure that stuff out now, so that way you know if they’re worth getting the inside spot in the bed, worth getting the last wing, or even worse, worth missing this pre-season NFL game that’s coming on for “Date Night.”

Earth Signs (Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo)

The Astrologist Says:

August is going to be more of an emotional month for earth signs in terms of where the planets in Leo are gonna be landing for them. They’re sort of in emotional zones, so it’s really gonna be more about self care and focusing on their heart space. Sometimes earth signs can be so obligated to fixing things for other people and being very responsible and dutiful that they don’t always put their own needs first. They tend to put others before them. Sometimes they end up in situations where they’re just going through the motions and not really doing things that fulfill them. This August is really gonna be about them looking at “What fulfills me? What makes me happy? What do I really want?” and taking active steps to making sure that they put themselves first.

The BRUHstrologist Says:

Yeah, prepare yourselves if you’re an earth sign, dog. Since Leo’s planets are landing out of the park (or something like that), you guys are gonna be in #TheFeels extra hard for the next couple of weeks and listening to Carl Thomas mixes in the name of “self care.” Y’all always focus on making sure someone else gets the big piece of chicken that you often miss out, and something about this month is gonna shake that sh*t up for y’all. In between the soulful serenades and staring out your window into the rain, take time to make sure you’re doing what YOU want to do instead of “doing to just do.”
