Chef Alisa Reynolds, owner of Los Angeles eatery My Two Cents, has been serving soul food to devoted customers for years—but now she faces a hefty lawsuit that could cost her career.
“For the past two years, I have suffered in silence because of a legal battle,” she writes on her Go Fund Me page. “Honestly, I am facing the biggest obstacle of my professional life. If you have ever watched me cook, you know that I am most careful to take my time to bring out tremendous flavor in the food I prepare.”
According to Reynolds, she has to raise $130,000 by August 15. Luckily, a few famous fans are among those willing to help keep the chef and her restaurant afloat.

Solange is hosting Wind And Grind, a dinner and fundraiser event slated to go down in the Los Angeles area in a secret location on August 11. Appearing alongside Solo will be Kelly Rowland, Melina Matsoukas and Issa Rae—who shared the event flyer via Twitter on Thursday.
While tickets previously appeared to be sold out, they are again purchasable via the event page. Prepare for “an evening to bring together community to support the imprint chef Alisa has cultivated through food, love, and fellowship,” with all proceeds going towards Reynolds and her restaurant.
