Will Smith was a guest on the premiere episode of James Corden’s new Carpool Karaoke spinoff series on August 8, where he revealed that he may be taking on a movie role of presidential proportions.

Carpool Karaoke began as a popular segment on The Late Late Show With James Corden, and became a monster hit. Now, it’s a separate content initiative on Apple Music, and Smith was the first guest in the new format. In between performing songs from his rap repertoire, the talented actor revealed that he was asked to play former President Barack Obama in an upcoming film. And after speaking with our former president, he also received his blessing to take on the part.

“I talked to Barack about it,” Smith said. “He told me he felt confident that I had the ears for the role.”

There is no word yet on when the movie will hit the big screen, but in the meantime, watch the full episode of Carpool Karaoke above. Smith talks about his conversation with President Obama at the 4:30 mark.
