If you’re a fan of Chewing Gum and were eagerly awaiting season three, prepare for your hopes to be dashed.
Michaela Coel, the writer/actress of the British cult favorite comedy, will not be writing a third season of the show. Channel 4, the British network that hosted the show, confirmed the sad news in a press statement. “Michaela is not currently writing a third series of Chewing Gum as she is focusing on some other projects,” a representative from Channel 4 says, adding, “but is not closing the door the the possibility in the future.”
The announcement comes after Broadcast reported that Coel said she had “reached a creative peak” with the show. If you’re not up on this phenomenon, which definitely filled a void for a lot of us between seasons of Insecure, it’s still available on Netflix.
