L    et’s take a trip down memory lane and think back to February 2016 when Queen Bey had just shut down the annual halftime show…yet again.

It felt more like Beyoncé Bowl II than it did Super Bowl 50, and in addition to her jaw-dropping “Formation” dance routine and powerful vocals, Mrs. Carter took her opportunity on the big stage to send a powerful message: Black Pride. And she did it all while channeling Michael Jackson. Her custom DSQUARED2 leather jacket adorned with gold bullets was inspired by one the King of Pop famously wore during his own 1993 halftime performance.

In total, Beyoncé was decked out in 100 carats, including 31-carat football-shaped diamond earrings by Lorraine Schwartz and an equally as heavy bezel ring, PEOPLE reported at the time.

But her fashion-meets-Black pride message to the people didn’t stop there; her dancers paid homage to the Black Panther party in classic berets and Dr. Martens “Persephone” boots.

It was so hip hop, so Michael, and everything we needed right at that moment. Watch Bey’s performance with Bruno Mars and Coldplay here to #RememberTheTime.
