Rumor was the entirety of UGK’s archives were destroyed in Hurricane Harvey, but now Pimp C’s wife is setting the record straight. According to Chinara Butler, the group’s catalogue has not been wiped out and is actually in a secure location.
Here’s what happened:
Bun B’s wife Queenie hit Instagram with a post concerning Pimp C’s son, Chad. According to Queenie, Chad was stuck in six feet of flood water at his grandmother’s house. In the same post, she mentioned UGK’s archives were gone. In an effort to get Chad help immediately, Chinara reposted Queenie, and the inaccurate info about the archives included. “All Chinara wanted to do in posting the information in question was share the address in the post and use her resources to send help. She was able to do that, and is now focused on being part of the solution to bring Texas back stronger than ever,” a spokesperson for Chinara told Fader.
While some of the material may have been damaged, the rep maintains, “Mrs. Butler’s memorabilia and archive items are safe and in secured locations,” adding, “We can not confirm the information being spoken on Chad Jr’s behalf because Chinara does not know what items were at the residence in question, nor has she spoken with him to confirm the loss and what it entailed.”
Harvey has hit Texas harder than most understand, so any good news is welcome. See photos of the chaos below.
