Cam Newton, or “Dab Daddy” as some people refer to him, is never one to mince words. He’s known for wearing crazy outfits, bringing a little Migos to millions of American living rooms after scoring touchdowns, and conducting some of the most entertaining press conferences. Newton recently celebrated his 28th birthday by covering 2 Chainz’s “Birthday Song,”  but he’s done his most unapologetic camera work after press conferences, setting reporters straight, in all his eccentric fashion glory.

Relive some of Killa Cam’s most unapologetic postgame interviews below.

“WE GOT OUTPLAYED.”

“We got outplayed,” was the phrase Newton uttered at the post Super Bowl press conference after his Carolina Panthers were handed the L. This interview also marked the end of Newton’s stranglehold on the NFL as the top quarterback. He received tons of hate for his attitude, body language, and for wearing a hoodie after losing the biggest game of his life. Since losing Super Bowl 50 in 2016, the Panthers went 6-10 the following season. The verdict is still out to see if he’ll be able to recover and return to the top of the league.

“NEXT QUESTION.”

So… about that time the Panthers fell to 1-5 on the season just a year after going to the Super Bowl. Newton’s stylist was still on point, but his accuracy wasn’t. While rocking a black top hat, he simply wasn’t in the mood to answer questions. All in all, it was pretty hard to take him seriously with the outfit he chose to rock postgame. He ended the interview by ignoring questions and walking out.

“IT’S OBVIOUS WHAT HE DID…”

Newton called a grown man “lil.” And not just any grown man, but New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham. This of course came after Beckham head butted Josh Norman, in one of the most heated back-and-forths ever seen on the turf. Beckham was spotted dabbing before the game to get a rise out of the quarterback, but Newton won the game as the clock expired. He was definitely feeling himself during this interview with the constant smirks— sideline reporter Erin Andrews wasn’t helping by egging him on.

“SO, YOU’RE A GHOST FOLLOWER?”

“Did you like it though?” Peak Cam Newton at his sarcastic best, during the 2015 season when his Carolina Panthers were only handed one loss during the regular season. During his team’s “bye week,” Newton went on a vacation and stunted on the ‘gram. When a journalist asked him about his vacation flicks, Newton just had one question— did they double tap? Needless to say, the 23 minute long press conference offered up plenty of gems.

“PEOPLE ARE SCARED OF ME…”

If there was ever a moment when Newton truly used his might and his mic for wokeness, it was his appearance at this unforgettable presser.

“I’m an African-American quarterback that may scare a lot of people because they haven’t seen nothing they can compare me to,” he told reporters in January 2016. Newton was just one of three active Black quarterbacks in the NFL at the time. Needless to say, that microscope lens is directly on his every single move. Trust and believe, Newton knows everyone is watching.
