Drake Boy Meets World Tour - Sydney

For more than two years, Drake and Meek Mill have traded jabs and hooks on wax. And while the Toronto MC has said that the two will never be friends, it appears that he’s been keeping up with his former foe’s legal woes.

Meek Mill’s sudden sentencing of two to four years in state prison for two nonviolent probation violations has been the talk of the rap game, and many supporters are hoping for his release from State Correctional Institution Chester. Drake shared his thoughts on Meek’s confinement during a performance in Melbourne, Australia, the last city on the Australian and New Zealand leg of his “Boy Meets World Tour.”

During his set, Drake spotted a fan wearing the “Free Meek Mill” t-shirt that Drake famously wore before his 2015 OVOFest performance in Toronto. “I see you got the ‘Free Meek Mill’ T-shirt. Free Meek Mill, too. You right,” Drake said. Video footage of Drake making the statement soon hit social media.

While we may never see the two rap stars come together again like they did on Mill’s standout record “R.I.C.O.,” it’s good to see that whatever bad blood that may have been (or still might be) there isn’t enough for Drake to want to see another Black man locked up. A hat tip to Drake, and here’s hoping that Meek’s legal troubles are soon resolved.
