veryone deserves a great love story, right?

FOX just dropped the trailer for its new gay coming-of-age movie, Love, Simon. In the flick, 17-year-old Simon Spier is on the verge of a great love story, but things are a bit…complicated. You see, Simon has yet to tell his family or friends that he’s gay. Plus, he doesn’t really know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online.

Whoa.

Facing both issues proves hilarious, terrifying, and life changing in the new movie based on Becky Albertalli’s acclaimed novel. It’s a heartfelt coming-of-age story about the thrilling ride of finding yourself and falling in love, starring Natasha Rothwell (Insecure), Golden Globe winner Jennifer Garner (Alias, Daredevil), Josh Duhamel (Transformers), and Alexandria Shipp (Straight Outta Compton).

Of course this isn’t the first gay love story we’ve ever seen. In fact, Entertainment Weekly appropriately calls it the “Moonlight effect,” as more and more projects emerge to shed light on these important stories. And coming-of-age novels have been popular in the LGBQT+ community for years, from Dumb Jock by Jeff Erno to Finding Our Way by Jayson James. So Love, Simon is carrying on a grand tradition.

Directed by uber-producer Greg Berlanti (RiverdaleThe Flash), it will hit theaters on March 15, 2018. Check out the trailer below.
