As Netflix continues to diversify its original series plot lines, the popular streaming platform has brought on one of our favorites to take the starring role.

Netflix has ordered a comedy series called Turn Up Charlie starring Idris Elba. Co-created by the Hollywood A-lister and TV producer Gary Reich, the show is about the title character, played by Elba, who is a struggling DJ and bachelor who reluctantly becomes a babysitter for his famous best friend’s “problem child daughter.” The first season consists of eight half-hour episodes and production will begin in the U.K. in May.

The role isn’t too much of a far cry for Elba — he told Vulture back in 2012 that he was a D.J. back in the day.

“D.J.-ing was the way I really made my money as a young actor,” Elba told Vulture. “Even when I got to go to the States, I brought my records because I couldn’t afford to sit around waiting for auditions all day.”

Another one of our faves is going to be getting more shine, but this time on the silver screen. This is Us and Black Panther star Sterling K. Brown will be starring in The Angry Birds Movie 2. The sequel, which will be coming to theaters on September 20, 2019, will have the original cast plus the Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actor we all know and love.

“I’m thrilled about our incredibly talented filmmaking team and the hilarious people we’ve brought together for the sequel,” film producer John Cohen said in a press release. “We’re so happy that Jason, Josh, Bill, Danny, and Peter are back for a second adventure joined by Leslie, Rachel, Sterling, Eugenio and this awesome ensemble of new talent. We’ll have many more exciting announcements to share soon.”

Congratulations to both Idris and Sterling! We can’t wait to watch Turn Up Charlie soon and catch Angry Birds 2 in theaters.
