Lauryn Hill Responds to Robert Glasper.

After Glasper accused Hill of stealing music and mistreating band members during the recording and touring of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, the singer responded with a lengthy Medium post, in which she explained her creative process. As noted by Hill herself, she hasn’t done an interview in over 10 years. Insert social media pandemonium.

“I’m confused as to why such a principled musician, who thought I ‘stole’ from his friends, would show up to work for me anyway,” she said in response to Glasper. She also addressed generational PTSD, career struggles, and her thoughts surrounding racial injustice.

Congratulations, Serena!

Serena Williams won her first round match at the U.S. Open on Monday night (August 27). Looks like the tennis dress that Virgil Abloh designed for the GOAT turned out to be a good luck charm.

ICYMI, the Louis Vuitton designer and former Yeezy creative director created the dress specifically for Williams to wear during the event. Pause real quick, and imagine being able to say you designed an outfit for Serena Williams—and she won a match in it.

“What I love about tennis is the gracefulness. It’s an aggressive and powerful game, but it takes touch and finesse,” Abloh said to Vanity Fair earlier this month. “So the dress is feminine, but combines her aggression. It’s partially revealing. It’s asymmetrical. It has a sort of ballerina-esque silhouette to symbolize her grace. It’s not about bells and whistles and tricks. It’s just about it living on the body, and expressing Serena’s spirit with each swing of the racket.”

Meet the Model Who Had Her Head Shaved by Rihanna.

We want you to know about Mette Towley because it’s never too early for #WCW. Also, chances are you’ve actually seen her before, but if her name isn’t ringing a bell, then perhaps this visual of the buzzcut babe having her head shaved by the bad gyal in N.E.R.D.’s “Lemon” will:

“Having my head shaved by Rihanna was the most insane top moment of my life,” Towley recently shared with i-D. “She’s an artist who I think [uses] her platform for really incredible purposes. She’s not only a fashion icon, but the woman who Rihanna is for the world is someone who I think just breathes compassion and a beautiful spirit. Having someone like that [shave my head] was amazing because I do believe that there’s a certain energy transfer with someone who’s cutting your hair, or even when you’re getting your nails done.”

Remembering Eli Clayton.

On Monday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified the two people who died during the recent mass shooting in Jacksonville.

“One of the men shot and killed at a gaming tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, on Sunday had won the national tournament, the Madden Classic, two years ago,” CNN writes. “The other was a former high school football player who loved to play the online version of his favorite sport, and had won $51,000 in his short gaming career.”

CASSIUS sends its condolences to the families of Eli Clayton and Taylor Robertson and all those affected.
