Big Lies

And now… The moment we’ve all been waiting for…

*Drumroll*

Officials reportedly say Trump’s under investigation for “possible obstruction of justice.” ‘Bout time! And guess who called for the investigation? Special counsel Robert Mueller, who the president was rumored to be considering for termination earlier this week. As The Washington Post notes, this is bigly, if not *the* most pivotal moment to occur within this damn-near year-old FBI investigation. Officials also tell WaPo investigators are looking into potential evidence of “possible financial crimes among Trump associates.”

Which can only (hopefully) spell out one thing:

I-M-P-E-A-C-H-M-E-N-T (do you know what that means?)

Big Facts

Congratulations are in order for Danica Roem, who became the first transgender candidate to win a primary for Virginia’s House of Delegates Tuesday. According to NBC News, the 32 year old is one of seven LGBTQ candidates to make it to Virginia’s November general elections. She’ll be going against Republican Bob Marshall, and if she takes the cake, she’ll be the third openly transgender state legislator to hold office in the U.S.—ever!—as well as one of the only few openly transgender elected officials in the world.

Big News

Congratulations are also in order for Tracy K. Smith, who was just appointed as 22nd Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry of the United States. According to NPR, she’ll be taking the reigns from Juan Felipe Herrera, who filled the role for two terms. But what exactly will she be doing in her new role? Smith, who’s a Pulitzer Prize-winning author (we see you, ma’am!), told NPR: “I think the responsibility really is to just help raise the awareness of poetry and its value in our culture. To me that means talking to people — getting off the usual path of literary festivals and university reading series and talking to people who might not even yet be readers of poetry. I would love to go to places where people might be struggling, where people might wonder if there are voices out there for them.” Let’s gooo!
